Anchoring made easy

Vuda Marina is a unique commercial marina complex, operating as a hub for yachts traveling throughout the South Pacific. It is conveniently located at Vuda Point, which is situated on the western end of Viti Levu between Nadi International Airport and Lautoka city.

The marina is a great place to be based year-round. Its crossroads location and close proximity to key areas on the mainland and offshore islands is unique in Fiji. The marina also offers a unique convenience for those wishing to explore the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands (Fiji’s premiere resort locations and beautiful chain of islands ) situated just off-shore and within eye view. Accessible through a reef channel 25 metres wide, the marina entrance is marked with beacons and green leading lights and is easily arrived at by approaching the highly visible British Petroleum storage tanks from the southwest.

arriving

Welcome to Vuda Marina and thank you for choosing to stay with us. We are here to assist you so if there is anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Before you enter the Marina channel, please contact us via VHF16 and call clearly “Vuda Marina, Vuda Marina, Vuda Marina. This is vessel “xyz” and await further instruction. All our radio operators speak English fluently.

Once you are advised that the channel is free of any traffic, we will ask you to enter our main basin and pick up the white buoy. Our yard staff will then be with you shortly to help you into your berth.

These instructions are for vessels who have already cleared customs and are legally allowed free passage in Fiji waters. If you have not yet officially cleared into Fiji, then please visit our custom clearance page for further information.

Hours of Operation

Customs Clearance facilities are available from 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday only. Weekend and Public Holiday clearances are permitted however overtime fees will be charged by the relevant government agencies. Our advice would be to avoid arriving on a weekend or public holiday – either speed up or slow down.

Clearance At The Marina

As with all countries, there are certain government requirements you are expected to follow when first entering Fiji.

When You Get To Fiji

Once you arrive in Fijian waters, it is your obligation to proceed directly to a Port of Entry before you can make landfall. Ports of Entry can be found at the following locations:

  • Vuda Marina, Western Viti Levu

  • Denarau Marina, Western Viti Levu

  • Suva Harbour, Eastern Viti Levu

  • Savusavu, Vanua Levu

Before You Arrive at Vuda Marina

Send in your Advanced Notification Form, known as a C2C form at least 48 hours prior to your arrival. The form can be found here.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR FOREIGN PORT UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN GRANTED APPROVAL BY THE AUTHORITIES

It is possible to send your information in more than 48 hours if you know you are expecting a long sail. For example, those yachts arriving from New Zealand and expecting a 6 to 8-day sail should send through the forms from New Zealand before they leave. Exact arrival times are often unknown due to many variables, however, an estimated arrival date is required.

Berthing

At Vuda Marina we have 2 options for berthing. The original basin is called the East Basin and the newer basin is known as the West Basin. In the east basin, we moor “med-style” and this section has fixed docks with power and water. In the east basin you are charged exactly for your LOA (minimum 35’). In the west basin, we have more modern floating berths also with power and water. The west basin has 3 docks each with its own minimum charges. Dock 1 is a minimum of 50’, dock 2 is 70’ and dock 3 is 80’. When docking in the east basin please have 2 stern lines and 2 bow lines at the ready. You will also need a minimum of 3 good fenders on both your port and starboard sides of your vessel if you are less than 45’ and at least 4 on either side for larger vessels. When docking in the west basin you will need your longer lines away from the docks. You will also need spring lines at midships and fenders. Life at Vuda Marina is pretty laid back and relaxed. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis and so there may not be a berth for you immediately and you may need to stay on our middle moorings for few hours or a few days.

Each berth has a 240V, 10amp, single phase, 3-pin powerpoint (same as Australia and New Zealand) and shared access to a freshwater tap on each dock. Note that our docks in the east basin are fixed so leave enough slack in your cords and hoses to allow for the tidal range. The Fiji Electricity Authority is reasonably reliable, however, can be subject to unexpected surges. It is recommended to run any valuable items through a surge protector as we do not take any responsibility for damaged items. Coming into the dock bow-to or stern-to is a personal choice in Sailing Season (1st May to 31st Oct), however it is mandatory to go stern-to in Cyclone Season (1st Nov to 30th Apr) as your anchor chain plays a major part in the event of a storm. Note that some vessels with a deep rudder may need to go bow-in as it becomes shallow close to the east basin wall during low tide. It is the masters decision to decide if going stern-to is appropriate.

When coming into your berth, please be aware of other vessels mooring lines and be careful not to foul your propeller. Any damage to other vessels mooring lines or the Marinas mooring lines will be charged to the owner of the vessel. Our advice – take it very slowly. Ease into your berth. Don’t panic. And if you are not comfortable due to strong winds or engine difficulties then do not try to go into your berth. You can always try again when the weather calms down or even the next morning.
